Ascension Cellars is a boutique winery of premium tradition. Like most micro-wineries, they forego a formal tasting room and focus bringing their product to the people at various events around the country. Angel City Data proposed a tablet-based system that would digitally capture their signup and order data with ease, and allow the booth visitors to quickly browse through details and notes about their various wines. It makes tracking products, customers, memberships, and orders a delight. Its gorgeous, customizable interface and intuitive navigation provide a rich experience for any level of user.

Beyond the low-grade, grocery-store wines, and even the posh tasting rooms of high-end wineries, lies a small but powerful class of vintners: the ultra-premium, micro-winery. These often produce a fraction of the quantity cranked out by mass-production wineries, but what these micro-wineries lack in volume, they make up for with meticulous quality. Ascension Cellars is a boutique winery of this tradition, specializing in barrel-select, hand-crafted Rhône and Bordeaux-style wines from the central coast of California. Their wines have won multiple awards, earning them an intensely loyal following of wine club members. Like many micro-wineries, they focus bringing their tasting experiences to people at regional tasting events, cruise ships, and community festivals.
The mobile nature of these events presented Ascension with challenges. Signing up new members and taking orders with clipboards and paper seemed easy but required time-consuming re-entry upon returning home. Laptops proved to be cumbersome by requiring power at long events and slowing the pace of a busy booth. When they discussed their needs with Angel City Data, we proposed a tablet-based system that would digitally capture their signup and order data with ease, and allow the booth visitors to quickly browse through details and notes about their various wines.
